We have been under the city for what feels like days, and while I thrive in the dark I would prefer some fresh air to go along with it. It seems every new room we enter contains more things trying to kill us, and this next room was no different. As daggers go whizzing past my head, I leap to the shadows and hope that the rest of this rag tag bunch can take care of themselves. The fight is fierce and drawn out until the final dwarf falls to silence. The party is beat and in dire need of sleep, myself included. We head back to the room with the ropers in the hopes of resting, we block the door forward with the corpses of the dwarves to hinder any interruptions in the night and as we all sit down to rest Lynn walks around nudging all of the stalagtites and stalagmites nervously. It is a good thing the paranoid dwarf listened to his instincts as one of the stalagmites opens its eyes. Wearily dragging ourselves to our feet we assume battle ready stances, however it seems Lynn is conversing with the creature. The creature demands to be fed and with a healthy supply of dwarf corpses the task is easy, however I no longer wish to sleep in the room with the creature. We head back to the room with the dwarf melee and settle in for the night.
After we wake in what we can only assume is the morning, I apply darkvision to the party again and take advantage of the dark ranging ahead. I find a lonely dwarf struggling to stay awake, and a dead mindflayer nearby. I drag the mindflayer back to Magnus as he seems to be familiar with them (well at least excited by them, he is a strange man) and collect Lynn to take the dwarf ahead alive. A quick gag and some manacles and the dwarf gives no sign of fight, I leave him with the rest of the party as I range forward searching each nook and cranny….. there have been enough surprises in the last day or so. As I return I find more than one of the scraggly dwarves all being handed berries by Xenobia, for a robot she has more heart than alot of humans I have crossed paths with. After the dwarves are all fed and the very awkward soldiers are assigned to take care of them we continue our trek to what we can only guess is south.
In the next room I come across a door that I can hear some light chanting on the otherside, however I can’t quite place it. Magnus has proven previously to have a solid stance and hard of health and to leverage this I fling the door open revealing a metallic clad figure performing a spell or ritual of sorts. It seems this creature is a summoner of sorts and while he brings forth all manner of beings the fight is over quickly. There is a door on the other side of the room that I am unable to get open and no sooner have I told the party this a charging dwarf flies past me and not into the door….. straight through the door leaving naught but splinters in its wake. On the otherside we are met with what appear to be creatures of slime that are advancing towards us. Lynn struggles free from the slime, however without armor – it appears the creature has stripped it off his back. Xenobia produces a mass of sticky webs holding them at bay as Lynn lays about him with a bone pike retrieved from the floor. After the slimes fall into a pool of motionlessness we catch our breath and look to the next challenge…..
