Hello my dear Felician and Lyelk,
It has surely been such a very long time since I last spoke to you. I sent a letter to the little ones the other day and I do so hope they get it. I hope they are practicing their bow work, just like I taught them.
Kit and I have come across some news friends who have just been granted a house, well a mansion really for the good deeds that they have done. It’s a beautiful mansion on a lovely piece of property just outside of Arcanix, along the river; you know, where the Arcane University is? The two of you and the ikkle ones simply must come to visit me here. I’m sure Luna and Lyn (my friends who own the house) would simply love to meet my family. There is so much room for the kiddies to run around and Lynx would love to see you all again as well.
The old mansion is full of weird and wonderful things. I’m sure by the time you arrive we will have figured out what’s in each room and will have been able to clean it up into tip top condition.
There is a lovely harpsichord in a room that plays some beautiful music. But it plays by itself and whenever it wants and we’re not sure how. I’m sure it’s perfectly safe to be around; it hasn’t attached us yet.
My other friend, Magus, has found so many different types of magic in the house and I’m learning so much. Though it’s very difficult to get my head around all of it. Magnus tries to explain but this silly old bot couldn’t possibly learn as much about it as he has. We’ve found illusion and necromancy and evocation and even transmutation! Oh my, so many types of magic.
The house has an indoor garden that is simply beautiful. It was fully of invisible bugs who were not happy about our arrival but Magnus, Luna and I cleaned all of them up. Well we killed them, I should go and clean them up after this letter. They were very hard to fight. Imagine trying to battle something you can’t see! Well, you should have seen some of the things that we came up with; simply marvellous. I used a blanket to bat them away and Magnus threw some dirt around so we could see their outlines. It was a very challenging fight but we won and those bugs need only be swept away now.
I think the priority for fixing the house should start with things that attack, just as the old saying goes “things that attack must be tidied first, then you can safely quench your thirst”.
Speaking of Magnus I think he may be a little off at the moment. We found a room full of burnt books but he insists to Luna and I that they are actually not burnt at all, but rather in perfect condition. I tried reading them but it was mostly a pile of ash. Though in a room off that there were an awfully large number of letters to persons in authority telling them, in no uncertain terms, to stay off the Foxglove Manor property. But it looks like the poor person who wrote them never got a chance to post them.
Oh look at me, rambling along like a mindless old machine. There are so many other rooms. A room that is cursed and houses a Mephit who doesn’t seem to react to anything that we say. Another room was full illusionary spiders, well Magus is sure that they are illusionary. Oh and delightfully another room had a Amphiptere egg in it. I do so hope it’s ok and we are able to hatch it. But I hope his parents don’t return to find him missing as they are known to be a little aggressive. But not to worry, there were some perfectly boring rooms as well. We found one that just appears to be a trophy / hunting room. I don’t really like going in there, with all those poor dead animals looking at me. We found another room with a giant telescope in it. Golly only knows why it’s so big, but here we are. Oh and a delightfully tidy room with nothing in it barring one bed and one window. Another room was merely a storage room complete with travelling trunk and bits of furniture. One room has a magic mirror in it as well, how wonderfully strange!
I could go on and on however I believe that the two most exciting things we found in the house are a half human half badger who name is Mr Montgomery. He and his family of badgers have taken up residence in one of the bedrooms. He speaks perfect common but decided to leave the land of the humans as he did not fit in. Did you know that a badgers favourite food is earth worms – who knew! Anywho he’s going to stay in that room until we all figure something out. He seems harmless enough and I sure he and his wonderful family will cause us no concerns.
The other wonderful thing is that we found a young wizard who was expelled from Arcane prep whose name is Vimpy. He was staying here as he didn’t want to go home after being kicked out of school. I do so hope that Luna allows him to stay. It would be delightful for them to have someone looking after the house while they are away. Vimpy could do all sort of things like fix the house up, tend to the garden and maybe they could even rent rooms while they are away to earn some more gallifars and Vimpy could take care of it all. Oh! The possibilities.
We found Vimpy in a room that has a transmutation magic in it. Of all things it was the grandfather clock face and Magnus seems mighty interested in it. Apparently Vimpy know all the cantrips; I’m sure someone will tell me what that means when it becomes important.
I best mention before you make the journey here to visit that my new friends introduced me to an even newer friend with whom I’ve made a deal. Delightfully he has bestowed upon me a new power, linking me to Lynxy-poo where I can see and feel things that he does. That’s right, think of it, little old me being able to feel hungry, tired and get a lovely pet! Oh my, it’s wonderful but still very strange, I’m sure it will take no time at all to get used to it. I just thought it best to mention as this friend, Diego, is a devil and I wouldn’t want him to startle the wittle ones. He’s been perfectly friendly and, just like Kit, he can turn into different animals; I’m sure the children will be fast friends with him. All of my friends have made deals with Diego so I’m sure absolutely nothing could go wrong.
Diego has taken up residence in a room that has a giant skull in it. The floor is, for reasons we’ve not yet determined yet, very hot to touch, but he’s a devil so it must feel homey in there. The fact that the skull is, what did Magnus say, “necrotic” doesn’t seem to bother him either.
Anyway I surely must let you get back to your busy day, I just don’t seem able to make my letters short, silly me! Please write me and let me know when you will be able to come and visit me at the Foxglove Manor.
